ABOUT ME

My name is Waddah Weld Ali, and I am proud to serve as your Independent candidate for the federal seat of Moncrieff.

I am a single father to a wonderful 16-year-old son, an academic teacher, a civil engineer, and a committed political activist with experience both in Australia and overseas. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of teaching, mentoring, and leading hundreds of students and engineers, many of whom are now accomplished professionals and academics, shaping a better future for all.

I was born and raised in Bahrain, where I co-founded the environmental advocacy organization *Bahrain Environment Friends*. Since immigrating to Australia over 20 years ago, I have developed a deep appreciation for the rich culture and spiritual connection of this country’s First Nations people. I live, work, and raise my family on Kombumerri Country, and I pay my deepest respects to the Elders of this land, past and present.

For the past five years, I have called the Gold Coast home. Here, I have forged strong ties within the local community—whether by participating in forums, volunteering at school events, or taking part in various sports challenges. The breathtaking landscapes, from the golden beaches to the mountains, and the vibrant local community, have become an inseparable part of my life.

My connection with the diverse members of this community runs deep—construction workers, educators, small business owners, farmers, and families alike. I understand the challenges faced by many, from the families struggling to balance rising costs of living with basic needs, to workers juggling long hours or multiple jobs just to make ends meet.

I believe Moncrieff deserves better representation—representation that prioritizes fairness, justice, and the wellbeing of all residents over partisan politics. I am committed to turning our shared passion for a better future into action. Together, we can build a stronger, more inclusive, and more equitable community for everyone.

Integration Movement

I was born to a father from Jenin, Palestine, and a mother from Nasiriyah, Iraq. From my father, I inherited the love, care, resilience, forgiveness, and determination to fight for the freedom of our beloved homeland, Palestine. From my mother, I gained wisdom, strength, and a deep appreciation for life, to live, laugh, and cherish every moment with gratitude and joy.

As a lifelong fighter for justice, I refuse to accept homelessness, poverty, racism, and domestic or sexual violence as inevitable realities. I reject a world where genocide is normalized, accountability is obscured, and justice is perpetually delayed. I will not stand idly by while the suffering of so many is met with indifference.

Being Palestinian and having traveled the world, I’ve had the privilege of connecting with people from diverse backgrounds—speaking their languages, sharing their struggles, and celebrating their joys. These experiences have shaped who I am today, someone who refuses to accept injustice, who is committed to building a better world, and who will never surrender to despair.

Our Integration Movement is rooted in justice for all, beginning with First Nations justice and extending to issues like climate action, housing, disability rights, workers’ rights, infrastructure repair, and fighting corruption. On the Gold Coast and across Australia, the opportunities to create a more equitable society are endless. Together, we will build a movement that leaves no one behind, amplifying the voices of those who have long been silenced.

Australia’s greatest strength lies in its diversity—its rich tapestry of backgrounds, beliefs, knowledge, and resilience. By uniting our differences, we are stronger. Together, we will fight for justice, and together, we will create a better future for all.

This vision is within our reach, but it requires your involvement. It’s your movement, powered by your voice. Together, we can ensure that everyone has a seat at the table and that no one is left unheard. We must move beyond alienation and stereotypes, truly listening to and engaging with each perspective in our community.

If you believe in a better world, one where justice, fairness, and equality are at the core of our society, then wait no more and join us. This is more than a campaign; it’s a call to action. Let us build a future where political power is grounded in the will of the people, and where every decision is guided by a commitment to justice for all.

Our movement will integrate every voice, every strength, and every hope for a brighter tomorrow. Together, we will stand united, implement justice for all, and create a future where no one is left behind.

Our Kids Deserve a Voice

As part of my campaign, I am committed to empowering our children by giving them a voice in shaping their future. For far too long, we have failed them by entrusting their future to corrupt political parties that have left our nation in turmoil. It is time to change that.

The education system must be reformed. Too many children have lost interest in their schooling, and if this continues, the entire nation risks collapse. As an educator, I understand the urgent need to inspire our kids, nurture their creativity, and provide practical, hands-on learning experiences that will help them build a better future.

I am developing programs for children of all ages, from birth to 18 years old, that combine fun, challenges, and leadership opportunities. These programs are designed to engage and inspire our youth, ensuring they grow into capable, innovative, and empowered individuals who can help build a stronger nation.

Our kids are not just our future—they are our present. It’s time we give them the tools, opportunities, and respect they deserve.

Waddah in Activism

This past year has been one of the most challenging periods for humanity. Yet, it has also served as a profound opportunity to expose the hypocrisy and double standards perpetuated by governments around the world. Amidst the hardship, we’ve witnessed a powerful awakening—ordinary people rising up, demanding their rights, and calling for justice for all.

Yes, I am Pro-Palestinian. Yes, I am Pro-Humanity. And yes, I will rise with you all, building solidarity with those fighting for justice. Together, we will set an example—not just for Queensland, or Australia, but for the world.

It is clear that the time for change is now. We are obligated to take action and proudly uphold our shared values, not only as Australians but as members of a global community. For decades, the major parties in this country have subjected Australians to one systematic crisis after another. They have made intangible promises, spread lies, and fostered division within our communities. Their complicity in war crimes and the continued arming of United Nations-blacklisted war criminals must not be overlooked.

While the Labor and Liberal parties spend millions of taxpayer dollars on political campaigns that erode our economy and strip away our rights, I stand before you as an Independent who needs not a cent for this campaign. Instead, I will rely on the collective power of the people of Moncrieff to dismantle the decades-long control these parties have maintained and to fight for justice for all.

My decision to run as an Independent in the coming federal election is rooted in the belief that solidarity is the foundation for systemic change. This solidarity transcends self-interest, bringing together people of all backgrounds, religions, genders, sexualities, classes, and abilities to stand united for equality, human rights, and justice.

What we are building here is bigger than the oppressive systems that exploit ordinary people’s struggles. History has shown us that collective power and organizing are the most effective tools to drive change. Together, we can forge a future where every individual, regardless of nationality, has access to what they need to live a good life.

It is time to rise beyond the limitations of the current system—a system that has enriched billionaires at the expense of everyday Australians, broken families through the rental and cost-of-living crises, and displaced people from their homes and ancestral lands. This campaign is about more than Moncrieff or Queensland; it is about creating a world that prioritizes interconnectedness, democracy, and justice for all.

Let us move forward with unwavering determination to create a better future—one built on solidarity, equality, and dignity for everyone.
